Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Karachi came into being as Pakistan Defence Officers Co-operative Housing Society (DOCHS) in March 1953. Initially established on a limited area, with limited members, but by no means with limited scope, the present day Pakistan Defence Officers Housing Authority (DHA) took shape as a full-fledged modern organization through a Presidential Order in August 1980 after dissolving of DOCHS. Located South of Karachi, with its frontier embracing the Seaview Beach, DHA is spread over an area of 8838 acres of land encompassing eight self contained phases. Since then DHA has come a long way in emerging as the largest and the most prestigious residential estate in the country which has maintained its class and standard in the field of housing and community living.

DHA with a vision for future planned to establish a most modern residential enterprise along the natural eastward expansion of the city along Super Highway in shape of DHA City Karachi (DCK). DCK is a residential-cum-commercial project spread over 20,000 acres of land which is being speedily developed on Super Highway as a Sustainable, Green and Smart City in accordance with the contemporary engineering cum architectural practices to make it livable by the current year. The ongoing fast track development with institutionalized strength, international level of master planning, provision of world class amenities and globally recognized sustainable status of DCK are some of the remarkable features that give an international stature to DCK and makes it a model city for future independent cities to emulate.

DHA in last one year has made some remarkable interventions in DCK which has given a new dimension and an added value to the project. In this regard, a number of MoUs for establishing renowned educational institutions and medical setups in DCK are in the pipeline and will be signed soon. Malir Motorway project that will drastically curtail the travelling time from the metropolis to DCK is in the active stage of planning and on completion will further add to the significance and status of DCK.
